the science of happiness

Recently I have found myself wanting to change things I do to make me a happier person. It's not that I'm a sad person, but who wouldn't mind being happier? For example--watching less TV, spending less time on social media (such a time suck!), and meditating daily are all on my agenda.

The other day I read an article on the Grant Study, which is a 75 year study on human development by Harvard University. Here are 5 key insights to happiness that George E. Vaillant, the director of Harvard's Grant study for the last 30+ years, concluded...

  1. Alcoholism is extremely destructive to your relationships and success
  2. Past a certain level, it doesn't matter how smart you are
  3. Older liberals get more action in bed (!)
  4. The warmth of your parental relationships affects you as an adult
  5. Happiness is love. Full stop
The last point really hit home. It was a nice reminder to surround myself with relationships that I truly love from family, to friends, to work. And thank you, if you're reading this. I'm so grateful for stumbling upon this blog however you found it and I hope my love for you and this blog brings you a little happiness!
