fieldguide: diy leather drawer pulls

Making these leather handle pulls for your drawers is so simple, but makes any cheap (read: IKEA) furniture you have look like a million bucks!

The process is a breeze, here's how you do it...

Materials
- Genuine leather belt, use an old one if you have or Target has some cheap genuine leather ones!
- Brass screws (2 per pull)
- Brass nuts (2 per pull)

Tools
- Scissors
- Drill

When choosing your brass hardware make sure you pick a size that will fit into the pre-existing drilled holes and extend pass them a little bit. The screws don't have to fit snugly as the nuts will hold them in place!

1.
Remove your existing hardware and figure out the length you want for your new handle. Mark where you want your holes remembering to include the raised "grab part."

2.
Drill holes big enough for your screws to go through. I started with a small drill bit and increased the bit size until the screw fit through. (I don't recommend you drilling lazily like I did in the above picture. Drill down into some scrap wood or something—SAFETY FIRST!)

3.
Once you've drilled holes in the first handle, cut the rest to that same length and mark where the holes should go so they all have the same dimensions.

4.
Attach!

Voila! Trés simple. If you're looking for a leather drawer pull with only one screw, this one by Brick House is stunning! Let me know if you have any questions, or need clarification. Happy home-sprucing :)
